Digital Dentistry

CAD/CAM

CAD/CAM stands for "computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing" and is a technology suitable for use in dentistry. This system allows dentists and technicians to design and produce restorations specific to the tooth structure via computer. This technology, which has an important place in modern dentistry, offers patients faster and more effective treatment options.

Perfect Smiles with Digital Precision!

CAD/CAM is a technology process used in digital dentistry. This technology greatly assists dentists in designing and manufacturing dental restorations (crowns, bridges, dentures, etc.). As a first step, dental impressions taken with digital scanners are designed in three dimensions using computer programs. After the design process is complete, specialized machines using CAD/CAM technology produce dental restorations with high precision and in a short time. This method offers faster, more accurate and patient-oriented solutions than traditional manual labor methods.

  • The Power of Digital Design

CAD/CAM allows dental prostheses to be designed and manufactured with high precision. This technology improves treatment processes by providing fast and effective solutions.

  • Computer Aided Manufacturing

Computer-aided manufacturing improves the durability and aesthetic quality of dental prostheses. CAD/CAM technology offers a more comfortable and efficient experience for both patients and dentists.

What is CAD/CAM Technology?

CAD/CAM technology starts by taking a digital image of the patient's mouth. From this digital model, the dentist uses computer software to design a new tooth for the damaged or missing teeth. This design is highly detailed and can be adjusted to perfectly match the patient's other teeth. Once the design is complete, the CAM part comes into play. Computer-controlled milling machines follow the model designed by the dentist and turn it into reality from dental restoration materials such as ceramic or composite. This process is much faster than traditional methods and can usually be completed within a few hours.

Curiosities about CAD/CAM

CAD/CAM technology is notable for its ability to complete dental restorations in just a few hours. This means fewer clinic visits for patients and significantly speeds up the treatment process. At the same time, restorations achieved through digital design offer high accuracy and aesthetically superior results. This technology also has the advantage of less material waste.

Although CAD/CAM dentistry treatments offer a wide range of dental restoration and treatment options, each patient's situation is different and therefore each treatment should be considered individually. For example, patients with severely distorted oral structure or poor gum health may need to address these underlying issues first. Your dentist will perform a detailed oral examination to determine whether the treatments that can be performed using CAD/CAM technology are suitable for the patient's existing dental and gum health.

CAD/CAM technology offers excellent results especially in fixed prosthetic treatments such as crowns, bridges, inlay and onlay restorations, veneers. It is not used for all types of dental procedures. For example, some complex orthodontic procedures or certain periodontal treatments may be beyond the scope of CAD/CAM technology. Our dentists at AvroDent will select the tools and techniques that best suit your specific treatment requirements.
